Screen Test

Here is my screen test for my movie opening project. First screen test video was filmed and edited by Mr Nick. Second screen test video was filmed by Me and put together by Tisha.

Screen Test

A screen test in media is a short video or audition where actors perform a scene or deliver lines to evaluate their suitability for a role in a film or TV show. It is used by directors and producers to assess an actor's appearance, performance, and chemistry with other actors. Screen tests help determine if an actor fits the character and the overall vision of the project. It’s also an opportunity to see how an actor looks on camera, including how they handle the technical aspects of filming, such as lighting, angles, and framing. In some cases, screen tests are filmed in different settings or with different costumes to explore how the actor adapts to various interpretations of the role.

In this video above, my media class created a screen test where we delivered some cliche lines from each of our movie genres. With this screen test, we are able to identify who feels comfortable in front of the camera and are confident enough to deliver the line properly. There was definitely some pressure to act for the whole class to see, so I can understand if our performance was far from good. However, I don’t think anyone from my class fits my character for my movie project well, so I might have to go looking for actors elsewhere. 

So I did just that! I tried looking for people outside of media class and forced them all to do screen tests.

Here is that screen test we tried conducting on our own! 

Reflection:

This screen test was useful in a sense where I could easily see who’s “actor material” and who’s… not so actor material. It acts as an audition almost, However, when theres a shortage in people who are willing to act for you, you take what you can get. Using our own team members as actors will obviously be our last resort, but if it does come to that, I fear I’m going to have to do it.
